Nix Receives Honors For Many Services
Through the past several years, the NIX Health Care System has received several honors and recognitions. We are proud of our hard-working employees, nursing staff and medical staff without whom we would not have achieved such high quality levels. Below are some of the awards and accolades the NIX Health Care System has received:
- The Nix Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center has been formally recognized as one of the top treatment facilities in the country, receivng accreditation with distinction from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS)
- Nix Health Care System Awarded with the Silver Achievement Award by The American Heart Association – The Silver Achievement Award is designated to facilites that have reached an agressive goal of treating patients with coronary artery disease, heart failure or stroke with 85 percent or higher compliance to core standards as outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
- NIX Health Care System Five Star Rated for Bariatric Surgery – NIX Health Care System is rated best in the San Antonio Area and ranked among the top 10 hospitals in Texas for overall bariatric surgery. Recognized for outstanding bariatric surgery service by the leading independent health care ratings company.

- NIX Health Care System Recognized as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence – The NIX Weight Loss Surgery Center has been approved as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by The American Society for Bariatric Surgery’s (ASBS). - Nix Rated #1 in Bexar County for Heart Care – USA Today reports that the Nix Health Care System is rated the #1 hospital in Bexar County for providing heart patients with the standards of care recommended by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. - Nix Medical Center meets or exceeds every National Quality Improvement Goal, according to the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
- Nix Behavioral Health Services received multiple honors from a national mental health management organization for nursing quality and community education programs.
- Data from a national data collection agency, UDS Database, has shown that the results of patients of the Nix Rehabilitation Services surpass other rehabilitation facilities in the region and across the U.S. for cases of stroke, brain injury, cardiac, debility, neurology, orthopaedics, and spinal cord.
- National health care quality ratings and services companies have awarded the Nix Health Care System’s Orthopaedic program their highest ratings for hip fracture repair and total knee replacement.
