Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

Who can be helped by Physical Rehabilitation Services?

Physical rehabilitation is provided for patients who have suffered:
  • Stroke (CVA)
  • Brain Injury
  • Spinal Cord Injury or Dysfunctions
  • Neurological Disorders, including Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and Polyneuropathy
  • Femur Fractures
  • Orthopedic Conditions, such as Knee and Hip Replacements, and Fractures
  • Amputation
  • Major Multiple Trauma
  • Cardiac Conditions
  • Pulmonary Conditions
  • Pain Syndromes
  • Medically Complex Conditions
  • Arthritic Impairments, including Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Osteoarthritis
  • Other Debilitating Conditions
     



Our success rate is higher for patients who:

  • Have the potential to improve functional skills
  • Are able to tolerate a comprehensive rehab program, 5 days per week of Physical, Occupational, and/or Speech Therapy
  • Are motivated to participate in the program
  • Require 24-hour rehabilitation nursing care


Physicians will be interested to know that the excellent patient/staff ratios ensure truly individualized care for their patients. In addition, it is our rehab team’s priority to keep referring physicians informed on the progress of their patients. Upon discharge the attending physician’s discharge summary is sent to the referring physician.
 



Services Provided
Our impressive team of specialists work very hard with patients and their families so that patients have every advantage of getting stronger. A full spectrum of physical rehabilitation services is provided:

  • On site pre-admission assessment to determine eligibility for admission
  • Medical management by a physician specializing in rehabilitation and
    board certified in pain management, Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Nursing care by nurses specializing in rehabilitation
  • Physical and Occupational Therapy
  • Speech Therapy, to address communication, cognitive, and swallowing deficits
  • Social services for patient and family support and discharge planning
  • Medical nutritionist
  • Neurology consultations available
  • Internists and specialists available as needed while admitted to the inpatient rehabilitation program
  • All private rooms
  • Staff is FIM-certified (Functional Independent Measure)
  • Quality patient care as reflected in high patient satisfaction scores


All physicians are independent practitioners and active members of the Nix Medical staff.

When life presents an unexpected challenge such as suffering a debilitating condition or injury, where do you turn for help? Often, injuries or strokes can limit a person’s ability to function independently and to continue normal activities. Nix Physical Rehabilitation Services uses an entire team of rehabilitation professionals to work with patients and their families to face these challenges. As a team, we strive to rehabilitate each individual to achieve their highest level of independence.

Referrals may be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Pre-admission assessments to determine a patient’s eligibility for admission are provided at no charge. Medicare and most insurance plans are accepted.
