TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Nix Health provides transportation for a reasonable fee to patients attending a scheduled physician appointment and/or clinical services at Nix facilities.

A complimentary shuttle service from Nix Alamo Heights is provided to patients who require additional services at the Nix Medical Center downtown.
 

TRANSPORTATION ELIGIBILITY

Transportation services are intended for individuals who have difficulty arranging transportation on their own; however, transportation is not appropriate for emergency cases or urgent care appointments. Drivers are not trained medical/emergency personnel, and are not permitted to handle medical equipment, lift patients or otherwise assist with medical care.
 

HOURS OF OPERATION

Hours of operation for Nix Transportation Services are: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
 

FEES

A reasonable transportation fee is assessed to all passengers, excluding intra-facility transfer patients. Nix Senior Gold members, however, receive a 50% discount for transportation services.

The following are the transportation service rates:

$10 per person, each way, or $20 round trip, and

$5 per Senior Gold member, each way, or $10 round trip.

Same fees apply to Caregivers

Transportation fees are payable by cash or check only in the transportation office or to the vehicle driver. Passengers are expected to sign a liability release.
 

GUIDELINES

The transportation service is provided only within the boundaries of Loop 1604 to the Nix Medical Center, Nix Alamo Heights and Nix Specialty Health Center.

A minimum of 24-hours advance notice is required to properly schedule passengers. Requested pick up times will be honored whenever possible. However, due to high-volume, scheduling adjustments may be necessary to accommodate all passengers.

A caregiver or family member must accompany anyone who requires assistance. Space limits individuals to having no more than one passenger accompany them.
 

PARKING SERVICES

Parking is easily accessible for our patients at the Nix Medical Center. Located on the Riverwalk, at the corner of Navarro and College Street, the Nix Medical Center offers three on-site quick and convenient parking locations. Valet parking, Houston Street Parking Garage and the South Bank Parking Lot.

For the convenience of our patients with special needs, a designated drop-off area is located directly in front of the Nix Medical Center, on Navarro, just south of College Street.

Houston Street Parking Garage

Open 24 hours to the general public and located at the corner of College Street and Navarro, across from the front entrance of the Nix Medical Center. Exiting the garage on “ground level,” patients are able to cross Navarro and enter the Nix Medical Center lobby.

Valet Parking

Available in the Nix Medical Center parking garage, accessible from College Street. Utilizing the 24-hour valet parking service allows patients easy admission into the lobby. Parking attendants are on hand to help escort patients into the main lobby and provide wheelchair assistance.

South Bank Parking Lot

Located adjacent to the Nix Medical Center and open 24 hours to the public. Patients may enter the South Bank Lot from Crockett Street or Navarro, then proceed half a block north on Navarro to the main lobby of the Nix Medical Center.
