Visiting Hours at Nix
Welcoming Visitors for Patients of Our Medical Services in San Antonio
Nix Medical Center
Visitation hours vary from floor to floor and may be controlled in areas
and at times when it interferes with the treatment process. In those circumstances,
structured visitation may be provided as appropriate to the setting and
situation. The attending physician may limit, restrict, or deny visitation
for a patient’s health and/or therapeutic well-being.
18th – 20th Floors
9 a.m. – 9 p.m., 7 days a week
Visitors are welcome 7 days a week, between 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. and 6
p.m. – 7 p.m.
23rd Surgery Floor
Since visitors are not allowed inside the surgery department, we ask that
they use the surgical waiting area on the 17th floor. Visitors may also
wait in the patient’s room.
24th Floor Intensive Care
Routine visiting hours are from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Visitation in the
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is limited to immediate family, patient’s
significant other, and those requested specifically by the patient. Exceptions
will be at the discretion of the ICU director and/or charge nurse. As
a general guideline, no children under the age of 13 are permitted in
the Intensive Care Unit. Visitors are limited to two (2) at a time.
Nix Specialty Health Center
To promote a restful and comfortable stay for patients, Nix Specialty Health
Center has incorporated specialized visiting hours.
Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation
Visitation by family, friends, and caregivers is encouraged and can be
quite helpful in the recovery process. This time may also be used to train
and educate those who will be assisting at home. We ask the family to
choose a member as a primary contact with whom we can report progress
and/or discuss any issues.
